Considering this recent Aiken Standard article, we thought we’d share some ways in which we at BIT Services have used ChatGPT. We’ve written a good bit about AI here on this blog. As a tech-oriented business, we have discussed the promises and pitfalls which AI engines like ChatGPT present to us.

And as an IT MSP who believes firmly in people-oriented service, we’ve developed policies and practices in how we use “generative AI.” We know that (a) business leaders trust human agents, not Artificial Intelligence, and that (b) generative AI is merely one tool available and cannot be relied upon as a crutch.

So, we asked ChatGPT to produce a summary of some of what we’ve recently “chatted” about. Specifically, we told it to summarize things we’ve done (or considered doing) that other business owners in Aiken might find helpful. Note also that some of the things we’ve discussed with ChatGPT listed below have not been (and may never be) implemented.

Then, we asked it to address some of its own weaknesses – some things business owners need to consider as they use any generative AI engine. We’ll add some of our own thoughts and will present these in our next blog.

Below is an edited version of ChatGPT’s response:

“Here’s a professional summary report tailored for your clients. It outlines how you’ve been using me to support your IT Managed Service Provider (MSP) business, and what I could offer to other Aiken businesses:

Overview

As an IT Managed Service Provider based in Aiken, SC and serving the greater Augusta, GA area, BIT Services has been leveraging ChatGPT as a strategic partner to enhance operations, streamline content creation, improve marketing efforts, and boost customer engagement. Here’s a summary of how ChatGPT has been used—and how it could benefit other businesses like yours.

Marketing & Content Strategy

  • Content Calendar Planning: Built and refined a marketing calendar themed promote trust, clarity, and reliability—tailored to different content types (blogs, email, social, video).
  • Blog & Newsletter Content: Brainstormed trends, news, and topics aimed at educating local SMBs on tech trends, cybersecurity, and practical IT advice.

Video & Training Content

  • Tech Training Videos: Consulted on how to record tech training.
  • Animated Digital Shorts: Explored tools to create 30–60 second videos showing common IT problems with a humorous or simplified angle. These are used for web, email, and social media campaigns.

Automation & Customer Service

  • Customer Service Bot Strategy: Evaluated chatbot options to deploy an automated bot on your website. The bot handles basic troubleshooting, answers FAQs, and creates tickets.  BIT Services note: We do NOT have a chatbot. We simply brainstormed some ideas and options for this with ChatGPT.
  • Ticketing Integration: Designed bot flows that streamline user experience and ensure ticket generation into your existing platform. Note: Same as above. We are still “playing in the sandbox” with some of these things and will discuss next week obstacles faced in implementing some ideas.

Strategic Consulting

  • Lead Generation Strategy: Advised on using organic content and email marketing for lead generation. Mapped out newsletter series and follow-ups.
  • Business & Personal Branding Alignment: Helped differentiate between business and personal branding while keeping them complementary—so your personal voice can draw attention back to the MSP business.

What ChatGPT Can Do for You:

If you’re a business owner in the Aiken area, ChatGPT can help with:

  • Website copy, emails, and social media content
  • Marketing strategy and customer engagement
  • Automating customer support
  • Internal training documentation
  • Sales scripts and product positioning
  • Custom strategies for reaching your ideal audience

Let me know if you want this in a branded PDF or slide deck format for client presentations! I can also tweak the wording depending on who your audience is—clients, prospects, or partners.”

Note that we don’t “endorse” every single “what ChatGPT can do for you” option. Next week, we’ll present some further guidance on why we’ve not used some of the above “advice” and some practices we follow when using generative AI that you might find helpful.
